The MC74VHCT50A is a six-way non-inverting buffer fabricated using a silicon-gate CMOS process. It achieves high-speed operation similar to an equivalent bipolar Schottky TTL while maintaining CMOS low power consumption. The internal circuit consists of three stages, including a buffer output that provides high noise immunity and stable output. The device input is compatible with TTL-type input thresholds, and the output has a full CMOS level output swing. Input protection circuitry on the device allows overvoltage tolerance on the inputs, enabling the device to be used as a logic level translator converting from 3.0 V CMOS logic and to operate from high voltage supplies. The MC74VHCT50A input structure provides protection when voltages up to 7.0 V are applied regardless of the supply voltage. This allows the MC74VHCT50A to be used as an interface to 5 V to 3 V circuits. The output structure also provides protection when VCC = 0V. These input and output structures help prevent device damage due to supply voltage - input/output voltage mismatch, battery backup, hot insertion, etc.
